Pastor Jim Lamb

Number One I wish to say for my wife Linda and I what a privilege it is to be a part of St. Luke’s pastoral family.  Our service is a continuation of the previous almost five years of privileged membership and association with this great fellowship of believers.  This is indeed a great fellowship.

I was raised on a small farm in Wayne County, Indiana.  As a child and youth I attended the Williamsburg Methodist Episcopal Church with my mother and grandmother.  I attended vacation bible school but, was unable to attend summer camp.  I also participated in 4H raising; dairy cattle, hogs, summer garden and, upon reaching age sixteen became a junior leader in the Wayne County chapter.

As a child and youth I was keenly aware that there was a God and that I believed in His word.  When as a teen I felt the call of God on my life for a commitment but, I was not ready to answer yes.  As a nineteen year old, God called again and I committed myself to Him for whatever He wanted.  I met my wife, Linda, in nineteen sixty-three and we married a year later.  Soon after, I felt a call to pastoral ministry.  After completing the Methodist Church’s required course of study I accepted a part-time appointment to Dublin, Indiana Methodist Church in nineteen sixty-five.  We celebrated the birth of our first child in September of that year and served Dublin Church for two years.  They were difficult years and we chose to step away from pastoral ministry in nineteen sixty-seven.

I had been working a full time job during the years sixty-three thru sixty-seven and continued with industrial positions in Wayne County.  In nineteen sixty-eight we relocated to Grant County, Indiana (Marion).  Our second child was born in nineteen seventy-six.  I eventually began work at Dana Corporation in Marion and celebrated my retirement after thirty-six years and ten months.  I had worked at several positions within the plant operations finishing as purchasing supervisor. My wife and I relocated to Kokomo in May of 2000 so I commuted to Marion for the last years before retirement.

My wife was raised in Richmond, Indiana as one of four children.  She inherited her father’s love for nature.  He also gave her an awareness of God.  As a youth she developed a deep faith in God and committed herself to Christ the first year of our marriage.  She had always connected her love and talent for music to His presence in her life.  He had given her a natural ear for music and blessed her to become a top local and state high school contestant with her violin. As an adult she has participated in Marion, In. Philharmonic, Marion Easter Pageant Orchestra and Indiana Wesleyan University string ensembles.   He has also blessed her work with children’s ministries in many of the congregations where we have served.

We are looking forward expectantly to serving a St. Luke’s congregation that is a servant to Christ and each other.
