Proclaiming the whole message to the whole person.

Director of Music

Becca Short

Rebecca Short

Rebecca’s Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education (minor: French) is from Olivet Nazarene University, and her current work toward a Master’s in Music Technology is with IUPUI.   Her work has encompassed all ages and very divergent teaching situations.  She has served as private teacher, classroom teacher, church choir director, school choir director, community choir director, orchestra director, ToneChime director, Hand Bell director, contest accompanist, service accompanist, and music ministries director in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana.  Rebecca specializes in choral choreography.  Her Master’s project, based on the “Multiple Intelligences” learning theories documented by Dr. Howard Gardner,  concerns acclimating new or young ringers into a Handball rehearsal/performance team with a workable comfort level as their training takes place.

Rebecca married Robert Short in 1973 because he asked, and they have two sons and daughters-in-law and five-so-far grandchildren.  Nathan and Ashley are parents of Gabriel, Jaden, and Naomi.  Noah and Kristi are parents of Andrew and Cameron.  Bob and becca also have a miniature schnauzer named “Diogi” (who is NOT miniature by any stretch of the imagination), and a dachshund/poodle mix (a doodle)  named “Day-oh-zhay” (French for “d-o-g”).   Bob calls her (the dog, not becca) his “anti-depressant pill” because, . . . well, … she’s a pill (the dog, not becca), AND she’s entertaining (the dog, not becca).

Music is a biblically-documented gift from God for the purpose of worshipping and praising Him, for reminders of His attributes, and for telling and re-telling His truths and events testifying to His faithfulness.  Music is a multi-faceted experience appealing to all learning styles and intelligences, and providing a proven way of remembering to the degree we allow ourselves to become involved in its implementation.

¯  God gives the gift of music.

¯ We, as the body of Christ, participate before the Lord.
